Blank spaces in a Free Fire name: U+00A0, not U+3164
A normal space is stripped from the Free Fire name field, so players paste an invisible Unicode character to leave a gap. In the NickStylish team’s check in September 2026, the no-break space U+00A0 was accepted and the Hangul Filler U+3164 was rejected — the second has not worked since around the OB43 update, even though many guides still recommend it.
Two details keep this honest. First, this is our own check, not a Garena rule: Garena publishes no list of allowed characters, so the result can change with any update. Second, an invisible character still takes up room in the name even though nothing is drawn.
- Copy the name with the gap already in it (the generator output keeps characters exactly as built).
- Open the rename box and paste — do not type the gap by hand.
- Before confirming, look at the preview: if the gap collapsed or the box shows an error, the character was stripped.
- Only then spend the Name Change Card or the Diamonds.
The two characters are defined in the Unicode code charts for Latin-1 Supplement (U+00A0) and Hangul Compatibility Jamo (U+3164). Are special characters safe in Free Fire names?
Special characters are allowed in many Free Fire names, but they are not safe in the sense of looking the same to everyone: Garena itself warns that it cannot guarantee they display on every device (checked 09/2026). A phone without the right font shows an empty box where the symbol should be.
The practical rule is to build the name in layers. Plain or lightly styled letters form the core, so the name is still readable if the decoration fails; symbols like ꧁ ꧂ or ࿐ sit outside it as a frame. Classic frame characters are in Unicode’s Basic Multilingual Plane, while emoji and most “math” letters such as 𝓛𝓮𝓸 live outside it and are the more fragile of the two. One more place players get confused: colour codes. Free Fire’s colour formatting works in the profile signature, not in the nickname — typing colour codes into the name field just adds the code text to your name.
What happens to a name that breaks the rules
Under Garena’s abuse policy, a Free Fire nickname that violates the rules is reset to a default name without notice (checked 09/2026). You are not asked to fix it first, and the rename you paid for is not returned.
What counts as a violation is broader than swearing. Hate speech, sexual references and impersonating another player or a public figure all fall under the Community Standards. Decoration does not hide any of it: a filtered word spelled with lookalike letters is still that word to a human reviewer.
